About - Guerry Force
Guerry is a Birmingham native and grew up at Fox Lake Farm under the care and guidance of Allison Majerik Black and the Fox Lake Farm staff. She started riding on the lesson ponies at 8 years old and has never stopped learning!
She had a very successful junior career showing in the hunters and equitation. She was the winner of her section of NCE equitation finals in 2003 and in 2005 she and Cabernet took the reserve champion in the children’s hunter Zone Finals. This duo were also circuit champion at the Sunshine Circuit in 2006.
She also took numerous wins in the junior hunters and equitation classes across the southeast while also spending some time in the jumper ring.
While not showing Guerry was a classic horse girl. Most afternoons she could be found at the barn riding anything and everything she could. She also helped with summer camp and beginner riders. Guerry has always taken great pride in her horse care and the care of her tack and other equipment.
After graduating high schooling in 2007 she attended Colorado State University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Equine Science and also picked up a business minor.
When faced with what to do after school, horses were top of the list. Guerry joined the team professionally in 2011 and has been a valuable asset ever since. Her role is critical to the success of Fox Lake Farm and the central Alabama horse community, from lessons to shows, Guerry does it all.
She is very active in the Alabama Hunter Jumper Association and has been on the board for numerous years and has served as president since 2022. “I love being an active member of the AHJA! Giving kids a solid foundation in showing both from a training perspective and a show manager’s perspective is huge to me. I want kids to get as much out of horse showing as they can”.
With her dedication to the AHJA she has been awarded several perpetual awards highlighting sportsmanship and service to the association
The Pat Hoyle Sportsmanship Award -2020 & 2022
The Jerry Morrison Awad - 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024
The Rise Service Award - 2019
She was also the lead show manager when Fox Lake Farm was voted “Best Horse Show” by the membership in 2017, 2019, and 2020. She was also lead show manager when the AHJA Year End Show was awarded this honor in 2021.
Guerry and her husband Dylan Martin married in summer of 2020 and have since added daughter Rainey to the family.
One of Guerry’s favorite parts about working at Fox Lake Farm is, “The ability to watch a rider grow up. I have had the joy of watching multiple generations of riders come through the farm and I’m so proud to have been a small part of their lives and I hope they remember all the lessons, both in and out of the saddle.”
