Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Kick Off Show

Allison, Emma, and new team member Julie Curtin took on the 2023 AHJA Kick Off Show earlier this month and made a great start to the year.

Lydia McCay moved up to the short stirrup with new mount Confetti. This pair improved each day and was champion in the short stirrup equitation on Sunday.

Holly Howerton had a stellar weekend!!! She and Made by Kostolany were champion in both the low hunter and JR/AM hunter. They were also second in the Jr Board Equitation Challenge, Undersaddle Innovational, and the $500 Jumper Pairs Class. This duo was truly fantastic!

Roll Tide is having a great start to his showing career! This young horse is owned by Katie Parnell Robinson and Dr. Donald Robinson. Julie piloted “Bear” to champion honors in the schooling hunter and baby green hunters. Bear was also 4th in the Undersaddle Invitational.

Allison and Emma took a one two finish in the Trainer Equitation Challenge. Thank you Cinsational and Escalido on being excellent mounts for the class.

Margaret Overton and Escalido moved up to the Pre-Child/Adult Hunters and brought home some great ribbons each day. They were also 6th in the $1500 Hunter Derby on Friday evening.

Pauling Frei and Truth Be Told are really figuring out each other as they start their new partnership. They were champion in the pre-child/adult equitation and won a a class in the pre-child/adult hunter on Saturday. Paulina was also 4th in the Junior Board Equitation Challenge. Emma piloted “Abe” to a reserve champion in the large schooling hunter division.

Pamela Adam and new mount Love Letter had a stellar first show together!!! They were second in the $1500 Hunter Derby and were champion in the children’s hunters. They also teamed up with Bates Moody and Cinsational to take 6th place in the $500 pairs class.

Not only was Bates and Cinsational 6th in the $500 Jumper Pairs Class but they were reserve champion in the children’s/adult hunters. They were also 5th in the $1500 Hunter Derby and 3rd in the Junior Board Equitation Challenge.

Ruth Branum and Oberon had consistent round in the long stirrup and starting hunters. They also qualified for the Undersaddle Invitational.

Isabella Culotta and new ride Maestro D made their showing debut together! They brought home solid ribbons in the modified hunters and learned tons in the pre-child/adult equitation. Julie also piloted Maestro to a win in the $1500 Hunter Derby on Friday evening and champion in the massive schooling hunter that morning.

Bella Jennings teamed up the Carlsberg and made the move up to the pre-child/adult hunters. They learned so much and brought home some great ribbons in the hunters and equitation.

Mae Moody and Wonderland continued their partnership and were 8th in $1500 Hunter Derby and 3rd in the $500 Jumper Pairs class on Saturday.

Juliette De Spalbec Z and Lillian Reynolds had a great weekend showing in the 1.05-1.10m jumpers. They were champion in their regular division and won the $500 pairs class with friend of Fox Lake Rosie Akins. They were also 4th in the $250 .85m /1.0m Jumper Classic.

Brynn Smith and Despicable Me had a fun weekend showing in the pre-child/adult hunters and schooling hunters. We are excited to see this pair continue on this spring!

Lou Gidiere tackled the starting hunter and short stirrup hunters and equitation with Fox Lake’s own Cup of Joe. They had solid rounds all weekend and were reserve champion in the starting hunter and 5th in the Junior Board Equitation Challenge.

Helen Harbert made her Kick Off Show debut with Fox Lake Farm’s Jolly and had a great weekend full of fun and learning! They had solid ribbons in the starting hunters and long stirrup. They qualified for the undersaddle invitational by winning the long stirrup under saddle. They were also 5th in the $250 AHJA Challenge.

Sophia Latham and Limerick showed in the very competitive .75m jumpers and improved each day! They teamed up with Mae Moody and Wonderland to take 3rd in the $500 Jumpers Pairs Class. They were also 8th in the Junior Board Equitation Challenge.

2022 Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Awards

Jen Hauser and Luau Cove CSF owned by Lori Lynn Davis earned the blue ribbon in the $1,000 USHJA Level II Jumper Classic at Venice Equestrian Tour Week IV

The rest of the crew had a great weekend with Jus D’o and Mimi Colette Frei taking champion honors in the 3’6” junior hunters and Lauren Velazquez with Romney Velazquez’s Cake Walk taking reserve champion in the combined 3’3” juniors.

Paulina Frei had a great debut with her new mount, Truth Be Told in the low children’s taking a 5th in the combined classic.

Katie Ditmars with Korneel and Mimi Colette with Emir both had consistent round in the high children’s jumpers as they prepare for more showing this spring.

Lillian Reynolds signs with Texas A&M

Congratulations to Lillian Reynolds on your formal acceptance to ride for Texas A&M on their equestrian team.

Lillian has been a long time member of Fox Lake Farm starting in our lesson program and moving up the ranks to the 3’6” equitation ring. She has qualified for the Hammel Final, Maclay Final and Medal Finals.

She is ready to round out her junior years by making the move to the jumper ring.

Congratulations Lillian on all your success. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.

The ladies have been showing up a storm recently! Take a look back at what all we have been up with our local association for the past few weeks.

Best Child Rider at The Hunter Place

On August 27, 2022 The Hunter Place hosted their AHJA sanctioned show at Fox Lake Farm.

Bella Jennings, Bella Culotta, and Paulina Frei were all named best child rider of their respective sections. We are so proud of all of our students!

Many of our other riders also competed with loads of champions and reserve champion honors!

Weekend in sunny Tuscaloosa!

Chance and Guerry spent last Saturday at Timber Acres showing with our AHJA crew! Congratulations to all of our riders on a super successful weekend.

Margaret Overton and Escalido are turning into quite the pair, taking home reserve champion in the short stirrup hunters.

Brynn Smith and her new mount, Despicable Me, had a great first show taking home champion honors in the long stirrup hunters. Lydia Clayton and For Fun were hot on their heels, taking reserve champion.

Isabella Culotta and Demitasse have improved by leaps and bounds. This duo won the pre-child/adult under saddle and took home second place in the equitation on the flat and over fences.

Ruth Branum with Cup of Joe and Lou Gidiere with Best Kept Secret each won a class of the short stirrup division and both had consistent rounds with improvements each time they stepped into the ring.

Bates Moody with Cinsational and Pamela Adam with Steel City Blues dominated the child/adult hunters by taking both champion and reserve champion honors.

Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Kick Off Show 2022

The AHJA crew is back at it again! This group of ladies had a great show back in the start of March. We are looking forward to a great year of growth and learning with our Alabama Hunter Jumper Association crew.

Our highlights from Kick Off include Fox Lake Farm riders placing 3rd - 7th place in the $1500 hunter derby, taking top ribbons in each hunter division, and excelling in the jumper ring. Equitation day was equally as successful with riders taking top placing in both junior board equitation challenges including a win in the pony ring.

Alabama Hunter Jumper Association 2021 Awards Banquet

We had the opportunity to celebrate our 2021 season at the Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Year End Awards Banquet. We had a great time seeing all of our AHJA friends and celebrating with our barn family. Our riders worked hard this year with many of them reaching their 2021 riding goals!

Our riders brought home 16 champion and reserve champion honors this year between the local circuit and USEF circuit offered by the AHJA. Our riders also won numerous other placings and awards.

Abby Guillory & Brynn Smith made it a 1 and 2 kind of night by taking champion and reserve champion honors in the long stirrup equitation.

Guerry was awarded the Jerry Morrison Award for service to the AHJA.

Dylan Martin was awarded the Pat Hoyle Sportsmanship Award and tied for the “Rise” Service award with Morgan Hurd.

Sydney Velazquez & Caredan Z had a stellar year taking home both the children’s hunter and children’s equitation perpetual awards.

Brynn Smith was awarded The Spirit of The Horse for her hard work and dedication to this sport and the horses.

Mae Moody missed the banquet, but was awarded the Little Equestrian That Could Award for her hard work and dedication.
